I'm so glad that you posted that because I love the Regina Coeli and every year it's at least Thursday of Easter week before I stop in the middle of the Angelus and say, "Oh, right, Regina Coeli," especially now that I don't have Becca here to remind me.
dofairdr--to tired to think of a definition, but what a great word.
Yup, I love it, too. My kids would sing it year-round -- they always protest when Pentecost rolls around and we go back to the Angelus. We sing both the Latin chant and an English version which we picked up via our Anglican parish in Cambridge. The tune is "Easter Hymn" ("Jesus Christ is Risen Today"), and the words go like this:
Joy to thee, O Queen of Heaven, Alleluia. He whom thou wast meet to bear, Alleluia, As He promised, has aris'n, Alleluia. Pour for us to God thy prayer, Alleluia.
Then you chant: V: Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, Alleluia. R: For the Lord is risen indeed, Alleluia.
