Old News Photoessay: Last Month's Eucharistic Procession
I must have given Epiphany back the camera at the end; the ponytailed person in the blue rain slicker to the left of the baby's head struck me as awfully familiar somehow, even from the back. Then I realized it was me.

Thanks for the pictures-- it looks like a wonderful event. I really enjoyed the pictures of the First Communion girls, the girls holding hands, and the boy holding his little brother. I'm really puzzled by that banner for St. John the Baptist parish-- it looks like some kind of Victorian allegorical painting. Do you know anything about it?
I don't know the story of that banner. My friend and I were intrigued by it, and I was kind of hoping someone might come along and say, "Oh, that's X!"
St. John the Baptist Church is really beautiful -- I did a post about their renovations at Icons. They have a very smart, good priest, Fr. Winslow, who's written a number of those Catholic Scripture Studies.
Those boys with the sashes are the Holy Crusaders group my older son belongs to. The boy holding the toddler is one of the founders of the group: when he and his brother were in about the 6th and 7th grades, they had an English assignment requiring them to invent some kind of "Good Citizenship" club. So they came up with the idea of a Eucharistic-Adoration club. Now they're about 20 strong, and they offer Holy Hours each month for various intentions -- this year it's priests in the diocese.
The girls holding hands are all friends from our parish -- the little girl with the short hair at the far left belongs to me.
