Yeah. Pretty much. Why don't I let him write the blog, and I'll go have some more tea? (the drinkable kind, I mean. Not the movement kind)

All "grassroots" movements seem to end up as useful weapons in the arsenal of some bigger political machine. For the Republicans, it has been the "Tea Party", for the Democrats it has been the "Occupy-wherevertheheckthere's
astreetinthenortheast" people. I have no faith in either of these movements or in their ability to remain autonomous. All they seem to end up being is one big publicity stunt and a way to stir pre-packaged media "controversy". If you think that we're moving into any sort of "post-partisan" future, you're fooling yourself.

Awesome. Give that boy a quarter of a beer or so.
From the mouths of babes...
This is the same kid who at six, as we were driving around listening to NPR coverage of the 2004 election, remarked, "Well, I know who NPR wants to win." So he's been this way pretty much all his life.
Of course, I have to add that what I think is really wrong with both these movements and the parties associated with them, neither of which is entirely wrong in terms of its cause(s), is the way each characterizes the other as evil and/or stupid. I'd feel a lot more hopeful about America if we had a culture which could think in anything other than ad hominem terms.
Your son's comments on Facebook are one of the highlights of my day. My favorite lately was, "Finally too cynical to think that the economy could ever be fixed, voters decided to at least demand that they be able to get too toasted to care."

He really needs to start drawing cartoons to go with some of these captions.
